I love my job :-)

Last week I wrote about the downside of being a teacher……sometimes I have to give students the message that they did not pass a course. I try to provide feedback that will help them to resubmit a piece that is of better quality. But of course, it all starts with the lectures. I do my best to address the literature and explain concepts. Judging from the evaluation report of my master course, I succeeded in that this year! 6 students filled out the evaluation form, and the average grade for my course is……8.7!
It felt really good, and it keeps me very motivated to continue with this course, and, with help from the remarks of the students, make it even better!
Thank you for filling out the evaluation form! This really makes teaching worth wile!

Let’s see, do I have more news…. well, my webquest bachelor student already has 43 responses to the questionnaire. That’s great, because I am hoping to turn her thesis into an article.
I had feedback talks on students’ papers this week. Mostly about interactive whiteboards. Most research still has to be done, but the outline of most articles looked promising. I realize it is a difficult course (CIMP) and a load of work, but the practical insights, and combining theory with practice are really worthwhile.
And: we send out the call of proposals on the ORD 2010. (www.ord2010.nl). First proposal to be handed in receives a gift!

Next week, no more educational stress, no lectures, no students. Time to write (still have two articles to be submitted..) and do research! Really looking forward to it, and then start the new year with a clean to do list…(Yeah, like that is possible….)
